Born and raised in Staten Island, NY, Peter J. Panzica received his medical degree from the University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He completed his internship in anesthesiology at Winthrop University Hospital and his residency and a fellowship in cardiac anesthesia at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA.
Dr. Panzica's clinical interests include cardiac anesthesia, transesophageal echocardiography, transplant anesthesia, thoracic anesthesia and practice management. He was recently appointed Chairman of Anesthesiology and Medical Director of Perioperative Services at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He is an Associate Professor of Anesthesia at New York Medical College. Previously he held the title of Clinical Director & Vice Chief, Department of Anesthesia in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, which he held for the last 18 years. He held the academic title of Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, Harvard Medical School. In addition, more recently he was charged with integrating anesthesia and OR operations across 7 system community hospitals. His administrative areas of expertise are OR management, efficiency and process improvement. Dr. Panzica is certified with the American Board of Anesthesiology.
